I have to confess it amuses me to think that this Faces of Carousel campaign is some kind of bizarre Carousel Players horoscope: Month of the Founder, Month of the Participant, Month of the Volunteer…
Guess what? November was our Month of the Supporter.
When speaking of our volunteers, I mentioned that there is a lot of crossover across these categories. You will see that reflected in this moth too. Another key thing that has emerged is that our work is made possible through the contributions of many different people and entities. For November, we wanted to give you a sense of the range of private supporters who believe in our work and help us bring theatre to children and their families. That’s why you get a double feature.
Let’s see what Liz Palmieri and Glen McCann have to say.
Liz Palmieri and the Niagara Community Foundation
Liz worked as our General Manager during Pierre Tetrault’s tenure as Artistic Director (remember her recollection of One Thousand Cranes?). Perhaps showing that sometimes you can’t get enough of a good thing, she has carried her beliefs in the impact Carousel Players has on our community to her own work at the Niagara Community Foundation.
The Niagara Community Foundation has supported special projects of Carousel Players since 2002. Our first grant was for lighting in the Sullivan Mahoney Theatre. Other grants supported GPS systems for touring, new play development, workshops for educators and laptops for technicians. Each year the Foundation has also provided bursaries to assist children in financial need attend Carousel’s summer camp. Congratulations on celebrating 40 years of providing outstanding theatre to children and youth. The Niagara Community Foundation is pleased that we were there for part of your journey.
The support of the Niagara Community Foundation reflects the range of projects and needs that are entwined with our work. Liz’s understanding of how we tour and reach children, families and educators. We are glad that you and the Foundation have been part of our journey too, Liz.
Now, I did warn you this was a double bill. Part 2 features Glen McCann.
